Second MVR evaporator strengthens energy efficiency at Port Colborne site

Jungbunzlauer has commissioned a second Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) evaporator at its production site in Port Colborne, Canada, further expanding the use of energy-efficient technologies across its operations.

The new unit complements the existing MVR system and represents another important step in the company’s efforts to improve resource efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. By recovering and reusing process heat, MVR technology significantly lowers energy consumption while supporting more sustainable production processes.

The expanded MVR capacity is expected to deliver substantial environmental benefits. The Port Colborne system is projected to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 8,000 tonnes this year, with annual savings increasing to around 12,000 tonnes from next year onwards. These reductions contribute to Jungbunzlauer’s broader decarbonisation strategy and commitment to lowering the environmental footprint of its manufacturing operations.
