Introduction

CITROFOL® BII eco is esterified with butanol from renewable resources and increases the bio-based share to 90%.

CITROFOL® BII is a preferred efficient primary plasticiser for sensitive applications due to no concerns in terms of toxicological, ecotoxicological and environmental reasons. The excellent compatibility with PVC makes CITROFOL® BII a well suited and recommended plasticiser for medical devices, toys, food packaging and inks but also technical applications like artificial leather, textile coating, flooring and automotive.

Specifications

CITROFOL® BII is specified to meet the latest edition of the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP).

CITROFOL® BII is supplied in bulk, in intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) with 1000kg net weight, in drums with 215kg net weight and in small drums with 25kg net content. Other packaging is possible upon request.

Jungbunzlauer CITROFOL® BII is EU REACH registered.

Legal aspects

In Europe tributyl o-acetylcitrate is listed in ANNEX I of COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) No 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.

In Europe, Jungbunzlauer CITROFOL® BII is compliant with Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 on cosmetic products as well as Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/1410 amending Annexes II and III to Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 and Commission Regulation (EU) 2019/831 amending Annexes II, III and V to Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.

Usual functions are: fragrance, plasticiser, perfuming.

Tributyl o-acetylcitrate has been affirmed by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use as a flavouring agent or adjuvant according to 21 CFR § 172.515.
