Introduction

CITROFOL® BI tributyl citrate is a fast fusing plasticiser for technical applications. The excellent compatibility in PVC makes CITROFOL® BI a well suited and recommended plasticiser for artificial leather, textile coating, flooring and many others. In coatings and paints CITROFOL® BI is used as coalescing agent.

Specifications

CITROFOL® BI is specified to meet the latest edition of the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP).

CITROFOL® BI is supplied in intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) with 1000kg net weight, in drums with 215kg net weight and in small drums with 25kg net content. Other packaging is possible upon request.

Jungbunzlauer CITROFOL® BI is EU REACH registered.

Properties

  • Clear, practically colourless, oily liquid
  • High boiling point – low volatility
  • Excellent compatibility with polar polymers such as acrylics, vinyl resins, ethylene-vinyl acetate and cellulose derivatives

Legal aspects

In Europe, Jungbunzlauer CITROFOL® BI is compliant with Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 on cosmetic products as well as Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/1410 amending Annexes II and III to Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 and Commission Regulation (EU) 2019/831 amending Annexes II, III and V to Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.
Usual functions are: film forming, solvent, plasticiser.

Tributyl citrate has been affirmed by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 21 CFR Section 175.105 as a substance for use only as components of adhesives.
