Introduction

CITROFOL® AII (triethyl o-acetylcitrate) is a versatile citric acid ester. It is used especially in products serving the personal care, pharmaceutical and biopolymer sectors.

In pharmaceutical applications CITROFOL® AII contributes as plasticiser to the performance of enteric-coated tablets.

For personal care applications like nail lacquer, CITROFOL® AII provides beside good plasticising properties also excellent lightfastness.

CITROFOL® AII is specified to meet the requirements of the latest edition of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP).

CITROFOL® AII is supplied in drums with 225kg net weight and in pails with 25kg net content. Other packaging is possible upon request.

In Europe, Jungbunzlauer CITROFOL® AII is compliant with Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 on cosmetic products as well as Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/1410 amending Annexes II and III to Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 and Commission Regulation (EU) 2019/831 amending Annexes II, III and V to Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.

As an indirect additive within the field of food contact material, Triethyl O-acetylcitrate has been affirmed by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 21 CFR for various applications, like adhesives as well as for polymeric coatings.
