Jungbunzlauer builds Biogums Plant in Canada

This strategic move aims to enhance capacity to meet the growing demand for high-quality products, further solidifying the commitment to delivering excellence.

Jungbunzlauer hydrocolloids are produced to the highest quality standards through a strictly controlled fermentation process using renewable raw materials, like corn. These highly efficient thickeners and stabilisers are widely used in Food and Personal Care products and are found in a variety of uses in Household Products and Industrial Applications.
Having manufactured Biogums in Austria for nearly 40 years,
the time is now opportune to extend the operations in North America. This region represents a substantial and expanding market for both Xanthan Gum and Gellan Gum. The new facility will enable Jungbunzlauer to support customers through regional production, simplify the supply chain, avoid risks in intercontinental shipping, and improve our environmental footprint.

The facility in Port Colborne already has excellent production infrastructure, including a corn wet milling plant that produces raw material for fermentation. Jungbunzlauer’s new Biogums plant, which has been approved, is scheduled for completion within two years, emphasising the commitment to providing an efficient and advanced facility according to strict quality and sustainability criteria.

Jungbunzlauer is one of the world's leading producers of biodegradable ingredients of natural origin and enables customers to manufacture healthier, safer, tastier, and more sustainable products. The Swiss-based international company, whose roots date back to 1867, specialises in Biogums, Citric Acid, Gluconates, Lactics, Specialties, Special Salts and Sweeteners and several Functional Acids.
