Energy drives price for citric acid and trisodium citrate up
Basel, October 7, 2005 – In recent weeks we have been confronted with considerable price increases from our suppliers. The strongest increase stems from energy and energy related costs which are very important cost factors in the production process of citric acid and citrates. They also affect our suppliers of raw materials, packaging and chemicals and additionally have an important impact on our freight rates.
While we are constantly striving to improve the efficiency of our processes and to keep our costs low in order to offer competitive prices to our customers, we are not in a position to compensate cost increases of this magnitude.
We are therefore forced to respond to this situation by implementing a price increase for citric acid and trisodium citrate of minimum 10% with immediate effect or as our contractual obligations permit.
