CITROFOL® AI is produced by esterification of citric acid with ethanol. Natural triethyl citrate occurs in small amounts in wine.
It is not irritant to skin and shows no sensitising effects on human beings. Therefore it is widely used in cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food applications. Due to its low migration potential, solvent power and compatibility in industrial uses it is favoured as plasticiser in materials with food contact.
